Preliminary Evaluation

 • In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I think my preliminary task fits the brief well. My cover shows a mid shot of my model on a school magazine, and the masthead is shown at the top of the magazine, conforming to the normal conventions that the mast head is always at the top of the front cover so that is stands out and the audience are able to see it clearly.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The front cover has a male model wearing the uniform that represents the Chatham 6th form, as well as having the primary colours that represent the school (Silver and green). The front cover also has the school emblem in the corner in order for the target audience to spot the magazine clearly.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

A school would distribute my media product as it was focused towards students and those under education. It's contents consists of information for those in schooling therefore wouldn't apply to the main public (i.e  over 18's)

Who would be the audience for your media product?

My audience would be students primarily at secondary school (Ages 11-18)

How did you attract/address your audience?

I made my front cover model a male student (16 years of age) posing, looking off to the left. I decided to use a student as they share the same age range and therefore would be more enticing to the customer.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have learnt how to use Photoshop after watching different tutorials and playing around with the software, for example using the Liquify tool on my male model as well as the clone tool, tips I didn't know before this project. Also the use of the different effects shown on a Panasonic Lumix. I have also learnt how to construct a blog that has clear subject dividers and titles leading you to the right article of work.
